Commitments as a little league coach

* Inspire Love for the Game: Engage, teach, and provide enjoyment for young players, fostering their love for baseball and organized sports.

* Focus on Growth, Not Just Winning: Acknowledge your influence on the mental and physical growth of the players. Prioritize good sportsmanship and character development over the value of winning.

* Teach the Rules: Take the time to learn and understand the rules of Little League baseball and teach them to your players in a clear, supportive manner.

* Run Effective and Enjoyable Practices: Practices should be organized, fun, and challenging to encourage skill growth and teamwork. If you need help preparing or running a practice, speak with your division director.

* Encourage Team Spirit: Promote collaboration, respect, and a team-first mentality among all players.

* Respect Umpires and Officials: Support our umpires by treating them with respect. Remember, public ridicule of umpires or players is unacceptable.

* Maintain Good Sportsmanship: Promote sportsmanship in both wins and losses, and encourage players to respect others. Teach how to play with integrity and take personal responsibility for their actions.

* Communicate with Parents and Players: Communicate with players and parents, clearly explaining the goals and objectives of the season.

* Equal Playing Time: Ensure that all players, regardless of skill level, receive the minimum playtime.

* Lead by Example: Create a positive environment for your team and help set a positive example for players to follow.

* Build Relationships with Fellow Coaches: Before and after games, engage with the opposing team’s coaches in a respectful manner. Remember this is a game.”
