Coach Pitch Building Fundamentals for the Future

Finding Fun in Learning!

Coach pitch is a step up from T-ball, where coaches gently pitch the ball to players instead of using a tee. The rules remain simple, with a focus on learning rather than competition, and all players get the chance to bat and play in the field. A coach’s job at this level is to help kids build on the basics by teaching proper throwing, hitting, and fielding techniques in a fun, encouraging environment. The goal is to develop fundamental baseball skills while keeping the experience positive and enjoyable for every child.

The rules for Farm include:
- Every players get to bat
- Every player gets to play at least 2 innings (infield & outfield)
- Players must use Little League Approved USA bats

Duration of Games/Practices

Remember, Practice Makes Better!

These are young kids who have both moved up from T-Ball and never played baseball before.

Practices & Games are limited to 90 minutes.

Practices should focus on reinforcing fundamental skills such as throwing, catching, fielding ground balls, hitting live pitches, and learning basic game rules and positions. Coaches can incorporate fun drills and mini-games to keep kids engaged while building their understanding of teamwork and sportsmanship. Games at this level usually run around 6 innings or 90 minutes, with an emphasis on player development rather than competition.

Coaches should rotate players through different positions and ensure everyone has equal opportunities to play, helping to create a well-rounded, positive baseball experience.
