Minors Building a set of Advanced Skills
It's About Competition and Teamwork!
In Little League’s Minors Division, the rules follow a more traditional style of baseball, including first time live pitching, base stealing, and standard outs, but are still adapted to support learning and development. Coaches play a key role in helping kids understand the fundamentals of the game, like positioning, strategy, and teamwork while keeping practices and games fun and encouraging. Their job is to teach the game in a way that builds confidence, promotes fair play, and helps players enjoy the experience as they continue to grow in their skills and love for baseball.
The rules for Minors include:
- Players may steal bases when the ball crosses home plate
- Pitchers throw from 46'
- Players now have the ability to walk

Duration of Games/Practices
These are kids who most likely have played coach pitch and are building their skill set.
Practices & Games are limited to 120 minutes.
In Little League’s Minors Division, players begin to experience more structured baseball with live pitching, stealing bases, and standard rules of play. Practices should focus on developing proper mechanics for hitting, pitching, fielding, and base running, while also introducing situational awareness and game strategy. Coaches are encouraged to maintain a balance between skill-building and fun, using drills, scrimmages, and team-building activities to keep players engaged.
